I'm reliving Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares in a Music School in Singapore

In a music school, you may have the best talented teachers, best behaving and progressing students, friendly colleagues and all that jazz. All things all well and good, until you look what lies beneath the surface.

When you have such bad pay which the boss won't raise, and such a bad system that often causes a miscomm between him, the front desk, and the rest of the staff, why would you wanna continue to stay here? As such, I think enough is enough. I have made a decision to leave my workplace on 30th June.

And don't get me wrong, I love to teach. However in a toxic environment which seen a few teachers leave when I first shifted in from the Pianist studio to here, I wouldn't want to stay long term. If that's not enough, my new workplace will see not just me leaving, but also another OG teacher also transferred from the Pianist Studio and potentially another, much to the shock of some of the parents I spoke to! If this doesn't spell things bad enough, I don't know what is!!

This is like a music school's equivalent of Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares and Hotel Hell Series, people! I've been watching so much of these reality shows recently, I'm fking re-living that!!

Again, you have talented staff to help! So treat them as such. Already lately I'm starting to post all my student results I've been getting for this fleet of candidates I'm sending for exams. If I have a good pass rate or a good number of distinctions, this will show them what my current workplace at Kovan Singapore will be missing once I leave! And yes, already parents are close enough to me that they want me to continue teaching their kids privately which I already agreed to. And yes, I understand by right, indemnity states that I shouldn't poach, but I don't think I'm the asshole doing this and parents who initiated coming along with me is NOT part of the contract and I can't stop them. Look even I take barely a third of my cohort, AND I give them a further $10 discount from the regular fees (which were already dirt cheap to begin with), I would still make a profit!!! That's how bad it is!
